Laviethan Majiss Hellrage Part 2

Laviethan Majiss Hellrage
The Laviethan as i think of him now was spawned and reformed in a game that has come to be referred to as "The Laviethan Game", and is the way i make him in each subsequent game following. I feel i should give some more back history, as far as that game goes. After making Laviethan for Sean's game, when i was still in the 8th grade, is when i met the love of my life; Cheyenne Autumn Craig. our meeting and re-meeting is under strange circumstances but best saved for a more appropriate blog, so ill only give whats necessary. Our friend Kc gave Cheyenne my email and yahoo id in order o get a hold of me in the 9th grade when we were going to Excelsior Education Center (Its a 'home studies' style school that lets you choose whether to take on-campus classes for help, or do your work at home) and Cheyenne was on-campus with Kc and i was not. We began talking again and at some point the subject of RPing came into conversation and she was interested. So began my first, and best, experience as a DM. I had her make a character and started her in Faerûn and had her meet Laviethan. Her character was Angel Syrein Moonlight, a female half dark-elf (Drow)half-vampire. her character was modeled in look after a picture i had found of a female version of Dante from Devil may Cry 2 (as seen above.) The plot had to do with both of them being Chosen of Aeo (an alternate spelling of Ao the over-god of Toril, where Faerûn is) and with that came great adventure and turmoil. Later in the game Kc, and our friend Deric, joined for a short period. It didn't last, but some really good plot came from the encounter. (I'm going to attempt to put as much of the plot and actual storyline into a later blog as i can, which will also be split into sections.) They went on to be married and so she became Angel Syrein Hellrage. Laviethan in this game was more diplomatic, smart and calculative, instead of the brute he was in Sean's. This mirrored my growing passion for intelligence and knowledge gain. His back history changed as well. He was the son of Alustriel Silverhand and Szass Tam, back before he became a lich. He had become enamoured with Alustriel, though he was evil, and when she bore him a son he took Laviethan away. When Laviethan was still young (somewhere at 3-6) he was sent to the Abyss to be tortured and taught the ways of evil. This is where he got his mask and his brand. The brand was the same mark that Guts gets in the Berserk series and in my game it was a way for demons to track and sometimes control him. Alustriel found out and ask for help from Aeo to get him back, and in return Laviethan would be Aeo's chosen and do his bidding as a champion. He gained his wings through service to Aeo, and grew to be the greatest champion the world over. With renown and fame he traveled until he came upon Angel in a small town, as he had been under Aeo's direction to find the next Chosen. I eventually came to change small portions of this as well. I realized that some inconsistencies still lay before me. First was his name. (Which i will explain how i got it) The name Laviethan i created based on the creature Leviathan which meant "1 a monstrous beast, esp.  2 any huge or powerful thing" and i changed the spelling to be a name. Majiss was a word i came across while looking in Google under the word "Insane" meaning "Absolutely Insane" (though to this day i can't find the source again.) and Hellrage was an offshoot of my brothers character Hellsing, which he got from the show he loved when he made his character "Hellsing" his characters first name was even Alucard. Hellrage was meant to denote anger and wrath from Hell itself. As far as the inconsistency was concerned, his last name was Hellrage, and Alustriel's was Silverhand. Which was small i know, but then came his size and strength that was explained through magic in the other game, but in this game had no source. His updated back history includes him being a different race called Ander, and is from a different planet, who are exceptionally strong and smart and born with wings, and when he was sent here (not because his hometown blew up or anything...just because) Alustriel took him in, and when she had her affair with Szass Tam he stole her new-found child, and the history continues along with the other I'd created. I eventually made Alucard Hellsing (Sean's character) Laviethan's brother who'd changed his name when he had become famous.

In my next post i will be starting my recounting of Laviethan and Angel's journeys together.

Laviethan Majiss Hellrage Part 1

Laviethan Majiss Hellrage
My favourite character, and long lasting persona. I created him as a replacement for, what i consider to be, my first character Seth Dreden. He was inspired by an anime i love to this day, that, surprisingly enough, Sean showed me. The anime is Berserk featuring Guts, a tall man who's upbringing spawned his wielding of a sword much too large to be realistic. I would talk at length about him, but this post is about my character, so i digress. Laviethan is a human male, standing 7'6" tall. He originally started with long black hair, amethyst coloured eyes, and a mask. The mask was styled off of Mick Thompson's mask form the band Slipknot, whom i was really into at the time, especially him as a guitarist (the hair was styled after his as well). he was broad shouldered and muscular, with tanned skin.  As you can see these are all things i subconsciously idolized, being young at the time. Tall, muscular, tan, wielding larger than life weapons, being a fighter, and having a mysterious past.
His original history was that he was born of wealthy nobles living in an unnamed city (I didn't get into great detail in history until i was older.) He was born so ugly that his parents couldn't stand to look at him (being all uptight nobles and whatnot) and so had a mask magically infused onto his face. They could still not bear it, as his face would haunt them, at night, and eventually while awake. So they cast him, in a basket, into a river (All Moses style.) He drifted until he found a bank and crawled out. (This is where a young mind fails at connecting age with plausibility, which is why it eventually changes.) On the bank, sometime after landing he is attacked by wolves, and fights them off with a stick. He is come across by a small group of orcs, who admire his strength, and the fact that his mask made him look mean. They raised him, but had no small weapons, so he trained to fight with a broadsword, which was too big for him at the time, starting his affinity and ability to use larger weapons. He becomes a powerful and fearsome orc raider, and grows to be the man i made him.
With the help of Sean, he had enough feats, and the gods know, DM given leniencies to wield two 14 ft swords. Now i know your rational mind is measuring 14 ft and thinking... Wait a minute, ceilings aren't usually that tall how did that work. Calm down, i later realized this too, but rarely changed it :P. Besides, this is D&D, where the pack is in the inventory, but never in the character description or in the way for actions, and no one has to go to the bathroom in-game! The swords were modeled off of the Black Swordsman sword from Berserk. He was part of a raid that came across the party engaged in some weird circumstance, that involved a portal from the Warcraft universe to the Faerûn campaign setting, and as his orcs were mowed down he realized that he would be killed. Sean (who was the DM) used his DM powers and told me "you realize switching sides would be beneficial" and as a good player...i did. Thus began the saga of Laviethan!
Eventually as they traveled and he became stronger and more renowned his mask was removed by Elminster, though his bloodthirsty ways were never extinguished. We were now in the fabled city of Silverymoon and i began my purchasing and using of the magical item "Tome of Gainful Exercise" to increase Laviethan's Strength (STR) score. To explain to you explicitly how high i got his STR score i will give you examples. In the world of D&D a normal man has a STR score of 10, giving him a +0 bonus to anything strength related, a strong man has an 11 (still +0) and a "Worlds Strongest Man" would have a 12 or 13 (+1 score.) An ape or ogre would have a score of 20-21 (+5), and a great wyrm gold dragon (which is the strongest and oldest and greatest of dragons) has a score of 46-47 which is a grand +18! Laviethan when i got out of that city had a 60 score, giving him a +25, and eventually he got it up to 76 (+33.) As you can tell, he was a pretty fantastical character to be sure.
He prayed to the god Toar, who was a god created by Sean by putting other good gods together to combat the collaborative god Bane had become by eating other evil deities. And when he gave the heart of a fire giant as an offering to this war god, he was granted wings. Last thing that was going on in that game was him uprooting redwood-sized trees and replacing them within the ground as to avoid the wrath of the dryads in the area. This was my first use of Laviethan, but not by far my favourite or most memorable.

This is Laviethan Majiss Hellrage Part 1 and details his start and first game appearance. Will be doing Part 2 later. Part 2 will feature his best, his worst, and his remade history!

The Start

Where to begin hmm? The eternal question. I guess I'll begin at the beginning...
I first got my taste for Role-Playing or RP(as i will most likely refer to it as from now on) with my older brother Sean, who had been into Dungeons & Dragons(D&D) for a goodly time prior, asked me and my friend Travis if we would like to try playing. We agreed when the words "You can create and be anything you want" , were spoken. I must say , however, that my first time was far from great (I mean who's first time in anything is!) and it left me with a sour taste for the genre of RPing. Later he tried again, this time with my parents and I. I remember still how we had all started in an Inn and one of us was a dwarf, so drinking abound, and the inn was attacked, which led to our coincidental banding together to help one another fight off this foe. I must say that my second run in was better than my fist, but still not convincing. I was then later on invited to play "Exalted" with Phee as the DM. The players included Val, Earnie, Tony, my Mom my Dad, Sean, Lexi, Lexi's dad. ( I think Chelle was there too, and I don't know if Kc played.) Again, it sucked very badly, and again i failed to be pulled into this strange world known as "RPing" it wasnt until much later that i was finally invited to game with the "Group" i had heard so much about. This "Group" was like some mysterious thing, some strange object in a secret cupboard that i never saw, but heard so much about, so much mystery and intrigue was there that i could not resist this invitation. Each person of the group in my mind was larger than life, part of an elite clique of Gamers, who i had heard so many fun stories about. The group consisted of Peggy Parson (MoM), Michelle Fox (Chelle), John Parson (John), Randy Parson(The peanut Gallery), and Phoenix (Phee, who wasn't gaming with the group at the time.) MoM is a wheelchair confined somewhat elderly woman who makes up for lack of movement with spirit and spunk. Her son John i autistic, and at the time was very drawn back and reclusive. Her daughter Chelle was one of the two Dungeon Masters (DM). Randy was MoM's husband, and Phee was a friend of theirs. When i was brought with the next time to game and got there i wasn't disappointed per say, but let's just say it wasn't exactly what i had envisioned. I named my first character the name i would change my name to if ever the need arose, Seth. I modeled his look after those guys with the white hair and braids in Matrix 2 (i think that's the one, they drive an "Avalanche" and do a highway chase...i digress) and made him a Psion. (They have telekinesis you know! That's my secret"I wish i had that power" power) and i was brought into a game that was already running. Not only that i was brought in to find myself... an outsider. I will never in my life forget the feeling i had, it was such a strange one. I came into a game midway through its campaign, to find myself with a group of people who knew each other, and who's characters knew each other. So my character stood there and watched(I stood there and watched) in my mind, as these strange beings conversed IC and interacted. They had inside jokes that i wasn't privy to, they had stories they talked about that i did not know of. It was like Magic, it was so strange. And I'm just talking about the In Character stuff. One character was prone to anger, the other would cast "Calm Emotions" without revealing it, and i was just sitting there watching this interaction. It was SO COOL. and then Sean introduced Aegwynne, HAHA, now he was in my territory, i was a BIG fan of Warcraft, and he was using Warcraft NPC's. So he gets this epic campaign flowing, where there are reoccurring bad guys, parents from games prior, magical beings, magic, swords and sorcery, it was everything i loved. Of course Sean accidentally spilled on my character sheet, and promptly remedied it by killing my character, (jerk). But I, of course, would thank him now as my second character was non other than Laviethan Majiss Hellrage (Who i will talk of in great detail in another post.) So my brother got me in, and my brother was relentless in getting me to stay. Thank you forever Sean... for this addiction, this great, wonderful, terrible addiction.

For starters...

For starters, i guess i should introduce myself. My name is Steven Tyler Hildreth, and i was born in San Diego California, I am a male Aries, and damned proud of it, my favourite colour is purple, and i love Jello.

I'll start this blog off with a post about its name, as I'm sure there will be mass confusion!...or maybe not. Arkham Asylum is an asylum for the criminally insane in a city named...Arkham! This was created by a man named Howard Phillips Lovecraft, but is usually referred to as H.P. Lovecraft, and is the created of our beloved Cthulhu Mythos. This is what i am referring to, not Batman (Who, by the way, got their name from Lovecraft's creation.) I created this blog out of the purest of reasons... I was bored. It was suggested to me, by a dear friend (and roommate), that i start a blog about Dungeons & Dragons... well now, there's a subject I've got a head of knowledge on. So why the hell not? An Role Player's blog...well, here we go!
